YJ RETURN TO PLAY PROTOCOL

YELLOW JACKETS-RETURN TO PLAY PROTOCOL

The following guidelines have been put in place for the protection of our players, coaches, families and friends. Providing for a safe return to the lacrosse field during this COVID-19 pandemic is our top priority. These guidelines are not intended to serve as a replacement for professional medical advice or treatment from a licensed professional. Our intent is to provide structure and leadership while following the different stages and timetable of our local, state and county.


General Guidelines for Return to Play


The following CDC recommendations should be followed regardless of the Return to play stages in our area.


Stay at home if you are feeling sick or experiencing the following COVID-19 symptoms. People with COVID-19 have had a wide range of symptoms reported-ranging mild to severe symptoms to severe illness. Symptoms may appear 2-14 days after exposure to the virus. 

People with these symptoms may have COVID-19:


  1. Cough
  2. Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
  3. Fever of 100.3 digress F or 37.9 degrees C
  4. Chills
  5. Vomiting
  6. Diarrhea
  7. Muscle Pain
  8. Sore throat
  9. New loss of taste and smell


Guidelines for players-Return to play Protocol


  1. Practice is NOT mandatory its optional
  2. Please do not attend practice if you are sick or recently sick
  3. Arrive dressed and ready to train- Facemask and gloves may be worn
  4. All players need their own water bottles with name
  5. Minimize use of bathroom facility and common areas
  6. No sharing of any equipment, food, water bottles or towels
  7. Mouthpieces must stay in mouth
  8. Bring Hand sanitizer
  9. Bags Separated on the field away from others
  10. All players bring their own ball with name on it

Guidelines for Coaches-Return to play Protocol


  1. Please do not attend practice if you are sick or recently sick
  2. Wear a mask whenever possible
  3. Coaches will be required to sign a COVID-19 waiver to coach
  4. Bring own water bottles with name on it
  5. Wipe down any and all common equipment- Have Wipes and Hand sanitizer
  6. Practice and educate Children on Social distancing- 6 Feet apart
  7. Absolutely no huddles, handshakes, high fives- No skin to skin contact
  8. Monitor kids for any COVID symptoms, anxiety, depression and or distress and contact the parent
  9. Athletes will be placed in small groups- Under 10 Phase 2
  10. Athletes will not stand on long lines waiting their “turn”
  11. Concentrate on fitness, more than team concepts, to start out-Injury prevention


Guidance and Responsibilities for Parents


  1. Please do not bring your child if you are sick or recently sick
  2. All Players must fill out daily questionnaire regarding temperature and other possible symptoms on google forms before each practice
  3. Understand your limited attendance in practice and tourneys and possibly the need to stay in the car- Phase 2 No spectators
  4. Stay on site (parking lot) and wait for the kids in case of inclement weather- Parking available adjacent to fields
  5. Wear a face mask whenever possible especially when indoors and when you cannot maintain 6 feet of distance from another person
  6. Have completed COVID-19 Waiver to participate.

Extra on Site- PAL Complex Precautions


  1. On site at PAL complex will be an AED, First Aid Kit, Tent (injury only)
  2. On site person trained in AED, FA and CPR
  3. Extra facemasks will be provided if needed- Bring your own
  4. AED on site
  5. No taping will be available
  6. Touch less thermometer on site
  7. Extra waivers available for those who did not complete online
  8. All team will stay away from all other teams and players when entering and exiting.


COVID-19 ACTION PLAN


In an effort to prioritize the protection of player and coaches all the team guidelines will be followed. These guidelines are not intended to serve as a replacement for professional medical advice, diagnosis or treatment by a licensed medical professional. The Long Island Elite Lacrosse Club, LLC will follow all state and local timetables as we proceed further. In the event that we are notified of a potential case of Covid-19 within our organization we will take necessary pre-cautions.


  1. A Pre-screening plan via a google doc form has been distributed to all players and will be completed at least 24 hours prior to practice for all players and coaches.
  2. All screening forms are confidential and collected by club.
  3. A certified person in FA, CPR and AED will be at the PAL Complex.
  4. All forms will be screened prior to practice session.
  5. Coaches will work with club manager to insure all comply.
  6. Those that do not comply will not be allowed to practice until form is completed.
  7. There will be no intermingling between teams and between practices.
  8. An Ingress and egress process will be strictly enforced at the practice sight.

Preparing for When Someone Gets Sick


  1. Any sick coaches, players or family members must report sickness to the club director immediately.
  2. If symptoms develop, individuals and families should follow CDC guidance for caring for oneself and others who are sick.
  3. Sick coaches and players should not return until they have met CDC’s criteria to discontinue home isolation.
  4. Club will advise those who have had close contact with a person diagnosed with COVID-19 to stay home and self-monitor for symptoms, and to follow CDC guidance if symptoms develop.
  5. A medical clearance note will be needed to return if they test positive for COVID-19
